Employees in NYC are guaranteed a minimum wage of $15/hr and an overtime rate of 1.5x the rate of their hourly pay. Documented and undocumented employees alike are guaranteed the minimum wage and overtime compensation by the New York Labor Law. Undocumented workers especially are often exploited by employers due to their immigration status. New York Labor Law protects all workers, regardless of their immigration status.
